The You Only Live Once (YOLO) Programme and the Boys Championing Change Programme, implemented at Nkonka High School with support from Zomnotho NPO, were successfully introduced to empower learners with essential life skills and knowledge. These programmes focused on educating learners about HIV and AIDS prevention, gender equality, responsible decision-making, and the importance of respecting others.
Through workshops, discussions, and interactive activities, learners developed a deeper understanding of making positive life choices and becoming responsible members of society. The Boys Championing Change Programme further encouraged male learners to challenge harmful stereotypes, promote gender equality, and act as positive role models within the school and community.
As a result, the programmes had a positive impact by improving learners’ confidence, behaviour, leadership skills, and awareness of important social and health issues.
