As part of the Men’s Month commemoration, Zomnotho Community Development Centre successfully hosted a Men Championing Change programme at Port Shepstone Correctional Services on 16 July 2026. The initiative formed part of the organisation’s ongoing commitment to promoting positive masculinity, responsible leadership, gender equality, and the prevention of gender-based violence.
The programme was specifically designed for male correctional services staff (correctional warders) to provide a safe platform for reflection, dialogue, and personal development. It was attended by male prison warders and senior officials, including the Head of Centre, Mr Sonjica, Community Corrections Officer, Mr Mbhele, and Centre Social Worker, Mr Mjabu Moyer Mhlongo. Their participation demonstrated the institution’s commitment to investing in the well-being and development of its male workforce.
Recognising July as Men’s Month, the session focused on responsible manhood, emotional well-being, accountability, healthy relationships, mental wellness, and the important role men play in creating safer families, workplaces, and communities. Participants actively engaged in meaningful discussions, shared experiences, and reflected on how they can positively influence those around them both professionally and personally.
Zomnotho extends its sincere appreciation to the management and staff of Port Shepstone Correctional Services for their warm welcome, active participation, and continued partnership. Together, we remain committed to empowering men to become positive role models and champions of change in their workplaces and communities.
